Incidental Information
Henry Sievers, it has been indicated to me, was a secretive person... Both his name AND his birth date are open to question.. According to some of our family records, Henry was born in 1844... not 1854, like all the census's we've seen shows..That would coincide closer with the information that we have stating he came to the U.S. in 1859 as a 15 year old. So.. did he consistently lie about his age, or, is most of our family information incorrect?? Lydia Walker, while being his "official wife" was not necessarily his only wife. It is rumored that he had an Indian wife, living either in the household or in another abode nearby.. It is also rumored that some of my family has some of this Indian blood in their veins.. We have absolutely no proof of this, nor any proof that this Indian woman even existed.. No pictures (except one that has disappeared), no name... only my grandmother talking about her, and my grandmother showing a picture of a woman that appeared to be Indian... This Indian woman is now referred to by some of us as "Grandma X".
